Group Chief Operations and Business Growth Officer

The Group Chief Operations and Business Growth Officer will drive the implementation and execution of new development and business delivery model for the organisation. S/he will take a lead role in further developing various initiatives in support of the Group strategy and proactively positioning the organisation in the energy market as the African and global energy landscape continues to evolve. This means overseeing product development, identifying new market opportunities, determining the optimal pricing to balance profit with customer/client satisfaction, and directing marketing operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- Hons / Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Sciences or Commercial
- Master's in Business Administration /Leadership will be an added advantage
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant and demonstrable experience in Group Operations Oversight and Business Development in the Energy Sector. The last ten (10) years should be at the Executive management level.
- A record of delivering results in a complex project, country, and partner arrangements in Africa and Globally.
- In-depth knowledge of Energy value chain commodities
- Experience in leading business growth including M&A, Partnerships (JV's / PPP) etc.
- Experience and ability to interface with government, regulatory authorities and the energy sector nationally and internationally

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

- Develop, in collaboration with the CEO, Group Strategy and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), short term and long term plans that support the Group Strategy to achieve growth and commercial Corporate annual and long term strategic plans
- Develop and implement Strategic interventions and initiatives aimed at ensuring that CEF Group achieves commercial viability and profitability.
- Developing and maintaining a long term strategy for the Energy markets in South Africa and the rest of Africa - ensuring that the business is looking ahead at the longer-term, strategic opportunities that will provide a step-change for the Energy business
- Find, develop and execute business opportunities that will increase the Group asset base.
- Grow and increase the market share of various CEF Group commodity portfolios (e.g. Renewable Energy, Gas, Liquid Fuels, tankage, and pipeline Infrastructure).
- Oversee the Group Capital Projects (coordination, monitoring, evaluating and reporting)
- Develop execution strategies and negotiate commercial terms for capital projects
- Provide Return on Investment for all strategic high impact projects for the group
- Lead the structuring of commercial deals
- Implement an international commodity trading stream
- Lead business government to government, business to government and SOE to SOE engagements in liaison with Government Relations team
- Build and maintain relationships with private and public executive level (C- Suite) stakeholders
