Production Technician - Hillside Richards Bay
The purpose of this role is to safely operate equipment and conduct autonomous maintenance in a production plant according to operating standards, procedures, work instructions and defined processes to achieve optimal production outcomes.
Serious contenders will have N3 Technical Certificate and a valid trade test certificate (Millwright, Fitter, Electrical or Instrumentation) and minimum of 2 years' experience in mining, metal or heavy industry;
Computer Literate (Excel and Word) is essential;
Code 08 Drivers license is essential;
Proficiency in English, (reading & writing) is essential;
Knowledge in PLC and/or SCADA is advantageous;
Working experience on SAP is advantageous.
Safely execute operations tasks as per plant Standards and Operating Procedures (SOP) requirements;
Operate and maintain plant equipment to ensure stable operation through elevated level of plant availability and utilization;
Operate mobile equipment where necessary;
Perform first line troubleshooting using supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA);
Perform local isolation for equipment intervention;
Conduct and document root cause analysis (5 Whys) for equipment failure and chronic failures;
Conduct first line maintenance (including resets, oil top ups, greasing, minor adjustment and minor components changeout);
Maintain excellent housekeeping of own area of responsibility;
Complete quality shift reports as per Line Manager's requirements;
Ensure compliance to the SAP process for work execution and capture related transactional data into the SAP system;
Execute work orders as per schedule and relevant work instructions associated with the work orders;
Maintain the design standard and ensure change management process is adhered to;
Provide input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of issues affecting equipment reliability;
Initiate updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment as per the SAP process;
Ensure adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the planning process;
Validate quality of work performed by maintenance team in his/her area of responsibility.
