In Sub-Saharan Africa, SNC-Lavalin has a proven track record of delivering projects across all four of our sectors of operation including oil and gas, mining and metallurgy, infrastructure and power. We have been present in Africa since the 1970s when the company was awarded the Mefta cement plant in Algeria. Since then, we have designed and built a series of outstanding projects across the continent that directly contribute to quality of life. We established further operations and opened an office in Johannesburg in 1982, leading to us becoming a major electrical & instrumentation contractor in the region, with mechanical and piping installation services added in the late 1980's. Over the last four decades we have served blue-chip clients, primarily in the petrochemical, power and mining and metals sectors on over 300 diverse projects executed in South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Madagascar, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Sudan.

Education & Skills:

- Minimum have a professional qualification / degree in QS, Economics or Construction Management
- Minimum of 8 years' experience working on site within the O&G sector
- Must be a multiple disciplinary QS (MEIP)
- Must have a background in cost control and cost management
- Previous experience working with re-measurable, reimbursable and lump sum projects with a solid understanding of contract management
- Must be computer literate, specifically working with MS Office Packages


- Analytical skills associated with developing and utilizing performance measures and cost savings
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to ensure continuous relationship building with client
- Work autonomously with direct Supervision
- Must have excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong letter writing skills


- Assist the day to day delivery of all commercial aspects of the project
- Follows and complies with company and project procedures
- Promotes ethical behaviour
- Ensures the project operates within the LLOA (Lines and Limits of Authority)
- Commercially administer the project in accordance with the contract terms and conditions
- Administration of project commercial risk and inform the Project Manager of any risks that may be detrimental to the project
- Ensure good client relations
- Update monthly cost tracking tools to ensure consistent and precise reporting
- Estimating of MEIP works in conjunction with the Project Planner and Project Manager
- Development of Project CPS (budget) in conjunction with the Project Manager
- Development of monthly cost reports
- Cost vs. sales analysis
- Ensures consistent cash-flow reporting
- Subcontract administration
