Marine Licensing

This course is offered by Intertek Consulting & Training in lieu of Flag State examination, and has been approved by the Liberian, Vanuatu, Panama and Marshall Island Maritime Authorities. The course meets the training requirements of IMO Resolution A.891 (21) for any license as Offshore Installations Manager, Barge Supervisor or Ballast Control Operator.

The course is approved by the United States Coast Guard, and satisfies the training requirements of US Code of Federal Regulations for a license of personnel on board Mobile Offshore Drilling Units.

 

Course Content

Course content is based on subject material the US Coast Guard and other Flag States deem necessary in their examinations for applicants for a license as Offshore Installation Manager (OIM), Barge Supervisor (BS) or Ballast Control Operator (BCO). The following modules are covered and information contained therein is included in the final examinations:

  • Fundamental Principals of Stability & Ballast Control
  • Jack-up Stability and Operations review
  • Surface Unit Stability and Operations review
  • MODU regulations and Maritime Law
  • Construction
  • Emergency Procedures and Rules of the Road (COLREGS)
  • Seamanship, Anchors and Mooring, Towing
  • Survival Craft, Weather
  • Firefighting and Hydrogen Sulphide
  • Engineering
  • Radiotelephone/Communications
