South African Oil and Gas Alliance (SAOGA) is based in Cape Town. Its purpose is to promote and develop the oil and gas services sector. SAOGA is managing an innovative skills development programme, specifically aimed at the development of skills for artisans.

The purpose of the position is to coordinate an Artisan Development Project.

The position would require a person who is a dynamic team player, driven and detail orientated AND who has a Technical Trade qualification AND at least 5 years previous exposure to the Skills Development arena with extensive experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of students. The person must also be able to function with minimal supervision.

The Key Performance Areas are:

The scope of work in the contract will be varied and will include the following:

Ensure quality assurance of workplace learning that follows CBMT methodology

Monitor and follow-up student logbooks

Monitor and evaluate learner placements’ attendance

Co-ordinate the phase training of interns and their return to their workplace sites

Collect and analyze learner information

Compile and submit skills reports as and when required by DEDAT

Liaise with employers and stakeholders as required

Assist with Apprenticeship Contracts co-ordination

Evaluate the quality and relevance of training provision

Assist with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Upskilling initiatives

Assist with skills needs analyses

Manage administration around the Contracting of Learners’ placements

Provide assistance to the Senior Project Co-ordinator/s and Skills Development Manager and any additional duties that align to the Artisan Development Project

The key competencies required:

Project coordination / project management skills

High level of computer literacy - MS Office

Good knowledge of the apprenticeship system and controls

Assessment / Mentoring / Verification skills

Report-writing skills (inclusive of English writing communication skills)

Time management skills – ability to prioritise and adhere to deadlines

Attention to detail – meticulous and accurate

Strong organisational skills (able to manage various tasks and projects simultaneously)

The ability conduct Monitoring and Evaluation of the CBMT component of the project
